There’s no clear border drawn around the North, but there is a shared experience that ties us all together: the season of winter. Northerners learn to embrace the cold, not endure it. We know the value of community because one day you’re helping a neighbor shovel their car out of the snow, and the next day you’re the one who needs a push. And we remain optimistic through adversity when many would feel defeated. Winter shapes who we are, and we’re better for it.
We spoke to a handful of Northerners we admire to hear how this place shaped them and influenced their paths, which often led to lives of service. They all overcame obstacles along the way because that’s what we do. These are their stories — the stories of the North.
See you out there,
